Anyway I unplug the camera, and the top LCD stays on. I turn the power switch off. The display STAYS on. I take the battery out, and put it back in, and try to turn the camera on. Nothing goes on. I try my other battery, same result. PANIC! I really don't want to have to replace my camera.
After some Google'ing, I stumble across this thread on DPReview, specifically this thread by JohnB47 more than 2 years ago:
Hi.
A previous poster gave the following sequence as a possible cure for lockups etc. I know that this worked for at least one person. You need to follow the sequence to the letter. Worth a try.
1.) Turn off the camera.
2.) Remove both camera batteries.
3.) Close battery cover.
4.) Turn on/off switch to "On".
5.) Let camera sit for at least 15 seconds.
6.) Turn on/off switch to "Off".
7.) Re-install both batteries and turn camera on.
I decided to take everything off (lens and CF card as well) just for good measure.
My camera is working again.
